The Rapid City Police Department works to address crime in Rapid City in a multitude of ways, to include both traditional policing and neighborhood engagement. We understand that law enforcement alone is not a solution to the issues our community faces. While addressing violence and holding offenders accountable is a large part of what we do, engaging struggling neighborhoods and families is a more effective long term strategy. We are always looking for community partners to help break generational cycles of crime and poverty, especially within the Native American Community, which experiences disproportionate levels of violence, victimization and incarceration.
