Bloomberg Assistant Professor of American Health in the Department of Mental Health
Tiara C. Willie, PhD, MA, is a Bloomberg Assistant Professor of American Health in the Department of Mental Health. Her research examines the etiology and health consequences of gender-based violence (GBV) among populations at risk of or currently experiencing violence, domestically and globally. This research investigates individual-, relationship-, community-, and societal-level determinants of GBV victimization and perpetration in order to develop primary interventions. She also examines the impact of GBV victimization on mental, sexual, and reproductive health, in order to develop effective, evidence-based secondary and tertiary interventions. One of Dr. Willie’s most active areas of research examines gender-based violence and its interaction with HIV risk factors and prevention methods using novel epidemiological and implementation science approaches.
