Taylor Owens is the Capacity Building Coordinator at HealthHIV, where her work focuses on reducing health disparities and improving public health responses to HIV and substance use. She supports several national initiatives, including the Empower Program, EBTI Program, DC Engage, and the Med-Ed Program. In these roles, Taylor develops educational resources, hosts webinars and podcasts, and creates visual tools to enhance HIV and addiction literacy through a harm reduction lens. She collaborates closely with community-based organizations and local leaders—to foster dialogue, reduce stigma, and empower individuals with the knowledge and tools to take charge of their health. Her work reflects a strong commitment to health equity and a deep passion for education, especially in service of communities disproportionately impacted by HIV and substance use.
HealthHIV is a national non-profit advancing prevention, care, and support for people living with or at risk for HIV, hepatitis, and related health conditions. Through education, training, and technical assistance, HealthHIV strengthens the capacity of healthcare providers, public health systems, and community-based organizations. The organization leads key initiatives like the National Coalition for LGBTQ Health and the National HIV E-learning Center, promoting health equity and access. With a focus on culturally responsive, trauma-informed, and harm reduction approaches, HealthHIV addresses the broader social factors affecting health outcomes. By supporting innovative strategies and fostering cross-sector collaboration, HealthHIV empowers partners to improve services and meet the evolving needs of diverse communities.
