Bloomberg Fellow
Suzanne Mallery is the Mental Health Strategist for Inland Empire Health Plan, which serves Riverside and San Bernardino counties in California. In this role, she identifies root causes of both clinical care gaps and disparities in treatment and outcomes in the areas of mental health and substance use. Based on these findings, she proposes and collaborates on implementing strategies to improve access to care and improve health equity. As a clinical psychologist, Suzanne has worked extensively with children and adolescents with neuropsychological impacts of prenatal substance exposure, and this experience has made her a staunch advocate for harm reduction in her community. Prior to her current role, she was an associate professor of psychology and Director of the Program in Neuroscience at La Sierra University in California, where she designed academic courses and programs in neuroscience and social ecology.
With a mission to heal and inspire the human spirit, Inland Empire Health Plan (IEHP) is one of the top 10 largest Medicaid health plans, the largest not-for-profit Medicare-Medicaid public health plan in the country, and for the third year in a row, certified as A Great Place To Work®. Founded in 1996, IEHP supports more than 1.5 million Riverside and San Bernardino County residents enrolled in Medicaid or IEHP DualChoice (those with both Medi-Cal and Medicare) and Covered California. As of 2024, IEHP also offers Covered California plans, further ensuring health care access for even more Inland Empire residents. Today, IEHP has a robust network of quality doctors throughout our two counties and nearly 4,000 team members who are fully committed to the vision: We will not rest until our communities enjoy optimal care and vibrant health.
