Rania Mohamed

Rania Mohamed is the Overdose Response Program Manager at the Baltimore City Health Department, where her work focuses on public health, overdose prevention, and health equity. Raised in Baltimore City, Rania’s lived experiences shaped her commitment to supporting communities impacted by long-standing inequities, violence, and disinvestment. Previously, she served as the Assistant Director for Baltimore's Syringe Service Program, where she supported mobile harm reduction services for people who use drugs. In her current role at, she leads the city's overdose education and naloxone distribution efforts, conducting more than 1,000 naloxone trainings for residents, agencies, and community organizations across Baltimore. Mohamed also contributes to the development of Baltimore’s Overdose Response Strategic Plan and supports the expansion of youth-focused prevention initiatives aimed at fostering community well-being and resilience.

The Baltimore City Health Department is the oldest continuously operating health department in the United States and is dedicated to protecting and improving the health and well-being of Baltimore residents. BCHD works to address public health challenges through direct services, community partnerships, policy development, and health education initiatives.
