Matthew Grant is an assistant professor at the University of Maryland School of Medicine in the Department of Pediatrics based in Baltimore, Maryland. Matthew is the Medical Director of the Adolescent and Young Adult Center (AYAC) within the division of Community Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine. AYAC is a multidisciplinary clinic supporting the care of infants, children, and young adults affected by the HIV epidemic, adolescents seeking reproductive health services, and provides comprehensive primary care services, with a focus on LGBTQ youth. Collaborating with local health departments, his work has focused on ensuring equitable access to care for youth throughout the Baltimore region by addressing barriers to care through advocacy, education, and direct intervention.
Founded in 1986, the Division of Community Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine’s mission is to meet the needs of those living with or affected by HIV by providing affirming, comprehensive, interdisciplinary, individualized, and confidential health care to infants, children, youth, and young adults. Its comprehensive continuum of services includes family planning, gynecologic care, STI prevention/treatment, primary care, and gender-affirming care. The Department of Pediatrics is committed to providing every child in Maryland with the very best medical care with services fully integrated to meet individual needs. Serving as a regional and community referral resource for the primary, specialty and critical care of infants and children, with strong community service and emphasizing preventative care, it provides solid clinical and educational experiences for future providers while meeting the needs to patients today.
