Martin Peters

Bloomberg Fellow

Martin began working with Eckerd Connects in July 2008 serving in the organization’s community-based care lead agency where he worked with youth in the foster care system. He has since held progressively senior roles, including utilization management, facilities and procurement, contract management, external relations, and government affairs. Martin currently serves as the Chief of Staff and General Counsel. He plans and directs administrative and operational activities for the President and CEO in addition to coordinating and managing critical issues such as board engagement, government affairs, and media relations. In his capacity as General Counsel, Martin’s portfolio includes a wide variety of legal projects such as contract review and formation, enterprise risk management functions, and advising the leadership team on various legal and regulatory issues.

Eckerd Connects was founded in 1968 by philanthropists Jack and Ruth Eckerd of Eckerd Drug Stores, with the vision of providing programming that allowed every child, young adult, and family the opportunity to succeed. Based in Florida, Eckerd Connects will serve nearly 30,000 clients in 2022 on revenues of nearly $165M, with 1,700 employees spread across 20 states. The organization focuses on four primary services: workforce development, the operation of Jobs Corps centers, juvenile justice, and community-based youth programming. The team believes that in order to best serve clients, Eckerd Connects must excel in five business domains: finance, growth and transformation, quality, staff and human resources, and external relations. Every decision the organization makes for clients is viewed through those five lenses with the goal of creating a multidisciplinary approach for maximum impact.
