Louie Martinez

Louie Martinez is a Community Advocacy Manager at Roadrunner Food Bank of New Mexico. In his role, Martinez serves as the primary liaison, advocate, mentor, and capacity builder for over 100 partner agencies across seven counties of New Mexico. He oversees a diverse partner network that brings direct services to neighbors through multiple sources such as food rescue and local, state, and federal government funded food provisions. Working in the charitable food system network, Martinez considers many complex factors associated with regional food systems such as food sourcing, built environments and food retailer infrastructure, waste diversion, and health-related outcomes when developing and implementing food insecurity interventions.

Roadrunner Food Bank is the largest non-profit dedicated to addressing hunger and food insecurity in New Mexico. We distribute food to and through approximately 350 partners (including K-12 schools, colleges and universities, healthcare clinics, senior centers, churches, shelters, tribal entities, and smaller regional food banks), as well as Roadrunner-operated distributions across the state – including the Roadrunner Food Pantry & Community Resource Center right across the street from their main Albuquerque warehouse, pop-up food distributions across southern New Mexico out of our Las Cruces office, and numerous other rural/tribal distributions. Every week hundreds of thousands of hungry children, seniors and families are reached through our statewide hunger-relief network.
