Bloomberg Fellow
Loretta Ng, serves as the Assistant Dean of Clinical Affairs and Associate Professor at Western University of Health Sciences, College of Optometry. Her public health focus is establishing collaborative vision care services in Pomona, California, targeting underserved pediatric, adolescent, and adult populations. Limited access to care leads to undiagnosed visual function and ocular health issues, impacting academic and social success, especially in disadvantaged communities. Ng and her team at WesternU forge sustainable partnerships with various stakeholders (e.g. other health professionals, industry partners, and local agencies) to provide needed vision care to Pomona Unified School District’s ~21,000 students through sponsored prescription eyeglasses, vision therapy, and/or treatment of ocular disease conditions. These services are designed to eliminate visual barriers to learning to support educational attainment that transforms our communities.
