Lizz Wenzel (she/her) is the IQIP Coordinator for the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH), where she manages the implementation of the Immunization Quality Improvement for Providers (IQIP) program within the state of Minnesota. IQIP supports providers in the implementation or improvement of best practices to increase on-time vaccination of children and adolescents. Lizz enjoys connecting with providers, assessing workflow and using data from the state’s immunization information system (IIS) to identify opportunities for process improvement. Lizz is especially energized when leading projects that increase HPV vaccination rates, engage diverse communities, and/or dismantle vaccine misinformation. Prior to arriving at MDH, Lizz was a health educator and care coordinator for an Urban Indian Organization and Federally Qualified Health Center in Minneapolis.

The Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) is the state agency responsible for protecting, maintaining, and improving the health of all people in Minnesota. Minnesota’s public health system is known as one of the best in the nation. It’s built upon a strong partnership between MDH, local public health agencies, Tribal governments, and other organizations. MDH does many things to keep people healthy, including infectious diseases monitoring, maintaining public health information systems, distributing publicly funded vaccines to eligible provider organizations, gathering and analyzing data to find ways to improve practices, offering grants to community groups to support grassroots efforts to improve health, and so much more.
