Core Faculty

A Liberian-born general internist, social epidemiologist, and health services researcher, Lisa Cooper, MD, MPH, is a Bloomberg Distinguished Professor in Equity in Health and Health Care at the Bloomberg School of Public Health and a professor at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. She is an international thought leader on addressing health disparities, through her research on how race and socioeconomic factors shape patient care, and how patients and health systems, in partnership with communities, can improve outcomes for at-risk populations. Dr. Cooper founded and directs the Johns Hopkins Center for Health Equity, where she and her transdisciplinary team work with stakeholders to alleviate racial and income disparities in social determinants and health outcomes.
