Joseph Buffaloe

Joseph serves as a Case Manager at Southwest CARE, where he helps navigate medical and social services for people living with hepatitis C. Joseph provides harm reduction and rapid HIV/hepatitis C testing in the community, in addition to facilitating weekly SMART Recovery meetings and assisting community members with health insurance enrollment. He is working with Southwest CARE to increase access to services among marginalized populations, including people who use drugs.

Founded in 1996 as an AIDS Service Organization, Southwest CARE was established to address a burgeoning public health crisis in the community of Santa Fe, NM. The organization was designed with the patient’s dignity and biopsychosocial needs in mind.  Southwest CARE serves 10,000 individuals annually and operates four clinics across Santa Fe and Albuquerque.
