Jordan Chacon Hersh is a Culinary Instructor of D.C. Central Kitchen's Culinary Job Training Program. Jordan teaches culinary skills and professional development to adults who have experienced barriers to employment, as well as young adults ages 18-24 who are not in school or working. Through the hands-on and one-on-one stewardship, she uses her skills of program development, culinary leadership and inclusive communication to connect D.C.'s culinary community and strengthen others through our most creative and lucrative tool: food! She previously worked within DCCK's Contract Meals and Nutrition Department within their School Foods Program. Previous to DCCK, Jordan worked 15 years in the culinary industry within culinary education, restaurant and hotel service, farm-to-table business and environmental justice impact. Chacon Hersh is a Washington D.C. native, Posse Foundation Scholar and University of Wisconsin, Madison alum.
DC Central Kitchen is an iconic nonprofit and social enterprise that combats hunger and poverty through job training and job creation. DCCK’s mission is to use food as a tool to strengthen bodies, empower minds, and build communities. The organization provides hands-on culinary job training for individuals facing high barriers to employment while creating living wage jobs and bringing nutritious, dignified food where it is most needed. DCCK’s social ventures include serving scratch-cooked farm-to-school meals in DC schools, delivering fresh, affordable produce to corner stores in neighborhoods without supermarkets, and operating fast-casual cafes throughout the D.C.
