Jillian Bunge

Bloomberg Fellow

Jillian Bunge is the Vice President of Impact & Outreach at United Way of Greater Toledo and guides their collective impact work over a three-county footprint in northwest Ohio. She oversees their community engagement with local partners and manages their data-driven, philanthropic grantmaking process. Under her direction, the volunteer-led decision-making process for grant funding has evolved to include community members with lived experience and sector expertise. Jill has led the growth of their 211 information and referral service system which connects over 80,000 residents to health and human service needs on an annual basis. Throughout the pandemic, she leveraged her extensive background in hunger and food security to obtain emergency funding and coordinate regional initiatives around food access.

United Way of Greater Toledo (UWGT) is a philanthropic funder covering Lucas, Wood, and Ottawa counties for organizations working in the areas of education, financial stability, health, and housing. They convene partners through a collective impact model to develop common agendas and shared measurement systems, review population level data trends, and work toward strategic outcomes within the nonprofit sector. As hunger and food security have become an increasing local need, UWGT is exploring innovation projects in the areas of urban farming, food reclamation, and the revitalization of a regional Food Policy Council in conjunction with local policymakers.
