Jenna Van Bruggen

She/Her

Bloomberg Fellow

Jenna is a Community Health Worker at the Center for Family Medicine in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, where she supports patients in navigating social determinants of health and improving access to food and nutrition resources. She meets with patients one-on-one to assess their needs, assist with insurance and healthcare access, connect them to resources like SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) and Feeding South Dakota, and provide education on healthy eating and lifestyle changes. Previously Jenna served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Panama, where she worked in rural and indigenous communities to promote sustainable agricultural practices and educate at-risk populations about reproductive health and HIV/AIDS prevention. Jenna is passionate about meeting people where they are and finding practical, personalized solutions to help them thrive.

The Center for Family Medicine is a clinic devoted to providing compassionate, patient-centered care for the entire family in an educational setting. Located in the heart of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, it is home to both the Sioux Falls and Pierre Rural Family Medicine Residency programs. Together, these programs support 33 resident physicians and have graduated nearly 500 doctors since their founding in 1973—many of whom continue to serve South Dakota and neighboring states. Committed to improving the health of patients, families, and communities, Center for Family Medicine serves a diverse population, including many underserved and immigrant families. Services include obstetrics, geriatrics, well-child care, and a variety of outpatient procedures.
