Gabrielle Millard is the associate director of Residential Services for House of Ruth Maryland (HRM) based in Baltimore, and is primarily responsible for the daily operations of HRM’s emergency shelter, hoteling, and transitional housing programs and services that address the basic stability needs that persons experiencing intimate partner violence need to achieve safety from abuse. These services include an onsite health clinic, service coordination, resident support, food service, housekeeping, and donations. Millard and her team work to identify and remove barriers to survivor-led goals, focusing on increasing access to stable and permanent housing and ability to meet basic needs, addressing health concerns, and improving social support systems. Millard establishes the best standards of practice ensuring that all services within the residential program are trauma informed, survivor-centered, and engaging within voluntary services and harm reduction models.
House of Ruth Maryland leads the fight to end violence against women and their children by confronting the attitudes, behaviors and systems that perpetuate it, and by providing victims with the services necessary to rebuild their lives safely and free of fear. For over 40 years, HRM has been a respected leader in ending intimate partner violence and is now the largest and most comprehensive domestic violence service agency in Maryland.
