Daniel Ryan is a wildlife biologist with the U.S. National Park Service (NPS). With 17 years of experience in the conservation biology field focusing on endangered species recovery, invasive wildlife management, and science communication, he is one of the NPS’s leaders in highlighting the shared health of our planet. Dan’s current focus on reducing the impacts of lead ingestion on wildlife and humans is rooted in One Health tenets, emphasizing the interconnected health of humans, wildlife, and our environment. Dan leads the NPS’s efforts in developing and implementing outreach efforts and targeted health communication with hunters and ranchers to promote the switch to lead-free ammunition and reduce inadvertent lead consumption. Dan volunteers as a hunter education instructor with the California Department of Fish and Wildlife.
