Cassandra Harrison-Ramos

Bloomberg Fellow

Cassandra Harrison-Ramos is a senior policy associate at the Center for Science in the Public Interest (CSPI) on the Healthy Food Access team based in Washington, D.C. She works extensively on advocacy and research related to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and the expansion of equitable nutrition access. Cassandra leads community engagement projects to build local advocacy capacity and identify community-prioritized food assistance policies. Before joining CSPI, she served as a HHMI Science Policy Fellow at Research America advocating for federal medical research funding, and as a PhD researcher at City of Hope Medical Center leading work on the intersection of breast cancer and diet-related diseases. 

Center for Science in the Public Interest (CSPI) is a non-profit consumer education and advocacy organization that has worked since 1971 to improve the public’s health through better nutrition and food safety. CSPI helped to lead efforts to win passage of the Nutrition Labeling and Education Act, the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act, the Food Safety Modernization Act, chain restaurant menu labeling, and the Food Allergen Labeling and Consumer Protection Act. CSPI also publishes Nutrition Action (NA) and is supported by the subscribers to NA, individual donors, and foundation grants. CSPI is an independent organization that does not accept any corporate donations.
