Bloomberg Fellow

Brittany Wagner is a public health nutritionist working in the Office of Nutrition Services(ONS) at the Washington State Department of Health (DOH) based in Tumwater, Washington. Here she strives to provide all residents of Washington State with access to nourishing food and opportunities for joyful activity. As the supervisor of the Program Monitoring Team, Brittany ensures that all WIC and SNAP-ed programs in WA have the resources they need to provide high quality nutrition care to their communities.  Brittany also leads the ONS health equity workgroup, collaborating across the office to reach our goal of embedding equity in all work. Prior to DOH, Brittany was a registered dietitian nutritionist (RDN) for the WIC program for four years and a Peace Corps volunteer in Uganda working on food systems projects.

The Washington State Office of Nutrition Services is within the Prevention and Community Health (PCH) Division at the Department of Health (DOH). We work together to protect and improve the health of all people in the state with the ultimate vision of “equity and optimal health for all.” ONS works towards this vision by ensuring all Washington residents have access to nutrition education, healthy food choices, lactation support, and active lifestyles.  To accomplish this work ONS collaborates with local health jurisdictions, community agencies, food retailers, and tribal nations. To have the greatest impact, DOH focuses on policy, systems, and environmental changes that impact where people live, learn, work, recreate, seek healthcare and worship.
