Bailey Humphreys

Bloomberg Fellow

Bailey Humphreys is the Food Strategy Coordinator for The Food Bank for Central & Northeast Missouri. In her position, Bailey manages The Food Bank’s Retail Rescue program which bridges the gap between excess food and food insecurity throughout 32 counties in central and northeast Missouri. This program partners grocery stores, restaurants, and other retailers with local partner agencies that distribute food donations to individuals struggling with food insecurity. In 2023, the Retail Rescue program redirected 4.5 million pounds of food from the landfill to local partners, helping to provide over 3.7 million meals to neighbors in need. Bailey is focused on growing this program through new partnerships with farmers markets, catering businesses, and college campuses to maximize the opportunities for rescued food.

The Food Bank for Central & Northeast Missouri is a regional disaster and hunger relief network that acquires and distributes millions of pounds of food annually to partner agencies across a 32-county area. As a member of Feeding America, The Food Bank can work with manufacturers, wholesalers, processors, growers, retailers and restaurants to secure donations and food at reduced costs. The Food Bank partners with more than 145 food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, and other agencies to ensure food gets into the hands of those who need it most. The Food Bank also works with nearly 200 schools to help students receive nutritious food. We provide food at no charge to our partners, which means hunger-relief organizations across our service area can afford to operate.
