Ana Woodburn serves as the Overdose Prevention and Response Strategist on the Prevention and Health Promotion team at Deschutes County Health Services. Her work sits at the intersection of overdose prevention, substance use epidemiology, and social determinants of health. In this role, Ana leads efforts to drive systems change, shift community norms around overdose, and expand access to life-saving care across Deschutes County. Ana has a strong background in both behavioral and public health as a licensed addictions counselor and health educator in her previous role as the Overdose Coordinator for the Harm Reduction Program. Before relocating to Oregon, she co-founded a grassroots harm reduction organization in the Midwest while working at the county health department.
Deschutes County Health Services, composed of Behavioral and Public Health programs, works to promote and protect the health and safety of the community. Our work includes disease prevention, surveillance and control, consumer safety, ensuring safe drinking water, providing access to essential health services, education about healthy lifestyles, implementing strategies to reduce and prevent high-risk behaviors, and responding to pandemics and emerging threats, outbreaks, and other events. Prevention and Health Promotion (PHP), as part of Public Health, works with community partners and members to create conditions that equitably improve health and well-being for all. PHP staff create a dynamic team of people working toward promoting and protecting the health and safety of our entire community.
