Amelia Harmon

Amelia Harmon is a Peer Supervisor for the Street Crisis Response Team, an alternative response to law enforcement for 911 dispatched behavioral health crises in the City and County of San Francisco. Overseeing Peer Crisis Counselors at RAMS, Inc., Harmon uplifts the inclusion of peer providers with lived experiences of homelessness, mental health and/or substance use challenges in order to ensure the most robust, trauma-informed alternative response possible when crises hit San Franciscans. Prior to working with the SCRT, Harmon worked with the In-Home Outreach Team for the geographically diverse Alameda County, operating as an interim intensive case management program ensuring that those with complex housing, medical, and behavioral health needs did not fall through system cracks. Presently, Harmon serves as a commissioner for the San Francisco Behavioral Health Commission. 

RAMS, Inc. is a mental health nonprofit in San Francisco, California. Since 1974, RAMS has supported those who have the least resources and opportunities to achieve their highest potential by providing integrated services that include counseling, job training, capacity building for partner organizations, and advanced training of mental health professionals. RAMS received the 2026 Psychiatric Services Achievement Bronze Award from the American Psychiatric Association and has staffed the peer counselor first responders on the SCRT since its inception in November 2020. Through January of 2026, the SCRT received 71,464 calls to service that would have originally been dispatched to law enforcement.
