Ama Amponsah

Ama Amponsah is the Domestic Violence and Community Health Program Manager at the Delaware Coalition Against Domestic Violence. There, she oversees programs and partnerships that position domestic violence as a critical public health issue. She manages the Domestic Violence and Community Health Worker Program, a sustainable, community-based model that addresses the complex health, safety, and social needs of domestic violence survivors. Her work also includes facilitating trainings for healthcare professionals and community members on recognizing and responding to domestic violence, strengthening referral pathways between healthcare systems and advocacy organizations, and promoting trauma-informed care. Through data-informed recommendations, she supports advocacy efforts, particularly in maternal health, reproductive justice, and survivor-centered care, where domestic violence intersects with broader health inequities.

The Delaware Coalition Against Domestic Violence is Delaware’s federally recognized statewide domestic violence coalition, founded in 1994. The organization works to prevent and eliminate domestic violence through advocacy, public education, training, prevention initiatives, and systems change efforts. DCADV collaborates with healthcare providers, educators, legal systems, and community organizations to improve policies and services for survivors and their children. Grounded in principles of social justice and equity, DCADV promotes safe, healthy, and equitable communities while addressing the societal conditions that contribute to violence and oppression. Through awareness campaigns, partnerships, and support for member organizations, DCADV serves as a unified voice for victims and survivors across Delaware.
