Alex Haworth is a Senior Energy Rater for New Ecology, Inc., based in Baltimore, Maryland. He supports a variety of affordable housing projects including multifamily, adaptive reuse, and historic renovation. With 15 years of field experience, Alex ensures that the housing built to serve vulnerable communities is adapted to a rapidly changing climate and to the highest standards of energy efficiency and sound building science. He coordinates between design professionals, regulatory authorities, building trades and residents to advance decarbonization efforts and community health related goals. Haworth is passionate about advancing solutions that address our interconnected climate and housing crises and provide working-class communities with resilient, healthy, and affordable homes in which to thrive.
New Ecology, Inc. operates where the climate and housing crises converge. As a technical assistance provider and 501(c)3, the organization delivers building performance solutions that lower energy use, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and improve health outcomes for low-income communities. NEI’s work protects and preserves affordable housing, creates good jobs in the green economy, and builds community wealth in underserved neighborhoods.
