The National Imperative to Improve Maternal Health

December 12, 2018

On November 29 and 30, 2018, the Bloomberg American Health Initiative and Bloomberg Philanthropies convened the inaugural Bloomberg American Health Summit in Washington D.C. The Summit brought together innovators, experts, practitioners and policymakers from around the country, to focus on ways to tackle some of the toughest challenges facing health in the United States: addiction and overdose, environmental challenges, obesity and the food system, risks to adolescent health, and violence.

At the Summit, J. Nadine Gracia, Executive Vice President & Chief Operating Officer of Trust for America's Health, moderated a conversation with Washington D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser and Christy Turlington Burns, Founder & President of Every Mother Counts, about the critical need to improve maternal health and address high rates of maternal mortality in the United States.

The 2018 Summit theme was From Local Action to National Impact: Overcoming Challenges and Improving Health. Read more about the Summit here.
