The City of Toledo coordinates, plans, and manages public safety forces, public utilities, municipal courts, housing and community development activities, parks and youth services, and land use planning. Toledo recently established the Mayor's Office of Neighborhood Safety and Engagement (MONSE) to build a comprehensive, multi-sector, evidence-informed, and community-engaged approach to neighborhood safety that addresses the root causes of gun violence in Toledo neighborhoods and networks. Malcolm Cunningham is the first Director of MONSE. In this role, Malcolm oversees the community and school-based Save Our Community violence intervention and prevention programs, the Community Action Table comprised of stakeholders throughout the violence intervention and prevention ecosystem, and the development of the City of Toledo's 5-Year Plan for Neighborhood Safety.
