From Local Action to National Progress on 5 Major Health Challenges

The November/December 2018 issue of Public Health Reports includes a special supplement entitled From Local Action to National Progress on 5 Major Health Challenges: The Bloomberg American Health Initiative. This scholarly journal of the U.S. Surgeon General, addresses how the field of public health can tackle some of the most pressing challenges in the United States: addiction and overdose, environmental challenges, obesity and the food system, risks to adolescent health, and violence. 

On December, 7th, the ASPPH and Public Health Reports hosted a webinar featuring guest editor and Dean of the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, Ellen J. MacKenzie, Vice Dean for Public Health Practice and Community Engagement/ Director, Bloomberg American Health Initiative, Dr. Joshua Sharfstein, Associate Director of the Bloomberg American Health Initiative, Michelle Spencer, and lead authors of the papers.
