The Impact of Trauma on Adolescents

On November 29 and 30, 2018, the Bloomberg American Health Initiative and Bloomberg Philanthropies convened the inaugural Bloomberg American Health Summit in Washington D.C. The Summit brought together innovators, experts, practitioners and policymakers from around the country, to focus on ways to tackle some of the toughest challenges facing health in the United States: addiction and overdose, environmental challenges, obesity and the food system, risks to adolescent health, and violence.

In his remarks at the Summit, Arne Duncan, former U.S. Secretary of Education and current managing partner at Emerson Collective, discussed the impact of trauma, and particularly trauma associated with pervasive gun violence, on adolescents.
