Food Policy of the Future
December 11, 2018
On November 29 and 30, 2018, the Bloomberg American Health Initiative and Bloomberg Philanthropies convened the inaugural Bloomberg American Health Summit in Washington D.C. The Summit brought together innovators, experts, practitioners and policymakers from around the country, to focus on ways to tackle some of the toughest challenges facing health in the United States: addiction and overdose, environmental challenges, obesity and the food system, risks to adolescent health, and violence.
At the Summit, Philadelphia Health Commissioner Thomas Farley moderated a conversation about how food policy, moving forward, can make an impact in addressing the nation’s obesity epidemic. The conversation featured Sonia Angell, Deputy Commissioner of Prevention and Primary Care at the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, and Margo Wootan, Vice President for Nutrition at the Center for Science in the Public Interest.
