Brian S. Schwartz

Dr. Brian S. Schwartz, MD, MS, is an environmental epidemiologist and professor in the Environmental Health and Engineering and Epidemiology departments at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. He uses “big data” approaches to understand the health implications of the primary drivers of sustainability, including land use, built environments, transportations systems, food systems and water systems. Dr. Schwartz has studied a range of relevant health outcomes, including childhood obesity, asthma, type 2 diabetes, methicillin-resistant S. aureus, diarrheal illnesses, pregnancy outcomes, mental health, and cardiovascular outcomes such as heart failure.
