On November 29 and 30, 2018, the Bloomberg American Health Initiative and Bloomberg Philanthropies convened the inaugural Bloomberg American Health Summit in Washington D.C. The Summit brought together innovators, experts, practitioners and policymakers from around the country, to focus on ways to tackle some of the toughest challenges facing health in the United States: addiction and overdose, environmental challenges, obesity and the food system, risks to adolescent health, and violence.
At the Summit, President of Everytown for Gun Safety John Feinblatt and Senator Chris Murphy of Connecticut moderated a conversation on how student activism is shaping the movement against gun violence. Panelist included Sari Kaufman, Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School student, Taylor King, University of Michigan student, Neuteyshe Felizor, George Mason University student, and Jai Patel, a student at Rutgers University.
The 2018 Summit theme was From Local Action to National Impact: Overcoming Challenges and Improving Health. Read more about the Summit here.
