On November 29 and 30, 2018, the Bloomberg American Health Initiative and Bloomberg Philanthropies convened the inaugural Bloomberg American Health Summit in Washington D.C. The Summit brought together innovators, experts, practitioners and policymakers from around the country, to focus on ways to tackle some of the toughest challenges facing health in the United States: addiction and overdose, environmental challenges, obesity and the food system, risks to adolescent health, and violence.
PBS NewsHour Anchor and Managing Editor Judy Woodruff moderated a conversation about how community design impacts public health in a variety of ways. The conversation featured Jennifer Goold, Executive Director of the Neighborhood Design Center, Michelle Kondo a scientist with the U.S. Forest Service Philadelphia Field Station, and Rodette Jones, Community Garden Director with the Filbert Street Community Garden.
The 2018 Summit theme was From Local Action to National Impact: Overcoming Challenges and Improving Health. Read more about the Summit here.
