On November 29 and 30, 2018, the Bloomberg American Health Initiative and Bloomberg Philanthropies convened the inaugural Bloomberg American Health Summit in Washington D.C. The Summit brought together innovators, experts, practitioners and policymakers from around the country, to focus on ways to tackle some of the toughest challenges facing health in the United States: addiction and overdose, environmental challenges, obesity and the food system, risks to adolescent health, and violence.

At the Summit, Tamar Mendelson, Bloomberg Professor of American Health at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, spoke with Monica Valdes Lupi, Executive Director of the Boston Public Health Commission, about the role of public health in addressing youth disconnection and other risks to adolescent health.

The 2018 Summit theme was From Local Action to National Impact: Overcoming Challenges and Improving Health. Read more about the Summit here.
