Susan G. Sherman

Dr. Susan G. Sherman, PhD, is a professor of health, behavior and society at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. She co-leads the Bloomberg American Health Initiative’s addiction and overdose focus area. Her research and publications focus on the social determinants of health and structural interventions among female sex workers and people who use drugs.

Dr. Sherman has recently examined the validity, acceptability and implementation of several fentanyl-testing technologies. She also is leading the evaluation of a full-service drop-in center and peer-outreach program for street-based, drug-using female sex workers. Dr. Sherman testifies regularly in Annapolis, Maryland, using evidence to support humane drug policy.
