Sunia Young

Bloomberg Fellow

Sunia is a Senior Program Assistant at the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine (NASEM). In her role, she works with NASEM's Board on Children, Youth, and Families, focusing on various projects related to children and youth. Some of the projects she has been involved in include Supporting Children with Disabilities: Lessons from the Pandemic, Family-Focused Interventions to Prevent Substance Use Disorder in Adolescents, Addressing the Long-Term Impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic on Children and Families, and Improving the Health and Wellbeing of Children and Youth through Health Care System Transformation.

The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine provides objective advice based on scientific evidence to inform policy, promote progress, and tackle societal issues. The Board on Children, Youth and Families (BCYF) is a scientific body within the National Academies that convenes experts from multiple disciplines to analyze the best available evidence on critical issues facing children, youth, and families today. BCYF’s ability to evaluate research simultaneously from the perspectives of the biological, behavioral, health, and social sciences allows them to shed light on innovative and influential solutions to inform the nation. Their range of methods—from rapidly convened workshops to consensus reports—allows for the timeliness and depth required to make the largest possible impact on the health and wellbeing of children, youth, and their families across the lifespan.
