Dr. Andrea C. Gielen, ScD, ScM, is a professor in the Health, Behavior and Society; Health Policy and Management; and Population, Family and Reproductive Health Departments at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. She conducts applied intervention research focused on community and clinic-based prevention programs focused on the prevention of intimate partner and sexual violence, childhood injuries, infant sleep-related deaths, fires, burns, opioid overdose, and motor vehicle-related injuries. Dr. Gielen is widely known for her work in applying behavioral science theory to injury problems, including serving as lead editor on the first textbook on the subject. To date, she has published more than 200 peer-reviewed publications.
